Civil war avoided and a new king emerges
Reports from Ceri have confirmed that their new king is none other than Bos. The move by the giant man was a surprise to many especially considering that he just acquired lands in Ceri a little over a month ago with his betrothel to Lady Gwen.
On hand to witness the event was Avlin, an archer in the Ceri army. "We were set around the perimeter where the meeting was to take place between Bos, Santan and Markedd. We were to start shooting if trouble broke out. The giant man [Bos] showed up with a druid and a dwarf as a champion. It was a sight to see a giant with a dwarf champion. Anyway, The meeting ended almost before it started. Before we knew it the meeting tent was being taken down and we were all of a sudden in the employ of the new king, Bos."
Santan and Markedd both claimed the throne for themselves after the former king's death from bad food. Markedd controlled most of the army and money but Santan had the loyalty of the king's personal guard and so the standoff between the two set up the stage for a civil war.
What we do not know is how Bos obtained the throne. Some speculate that he threatened them with their lives and others think that he threatened to attack the city with the units he brought himself. There doesn't seem to be much credence to this though because others reported that both Santan and Markedd were happy with the arrangement.
The crowning of Bos put an end to the tension and none too soon. Saxon units have been operating in the area and would likely have seized upon a civil war as a wonderful opportunity to take the kingdom for themselves. Along with his large stature, Bos brings with him 3 British mercenary units in the effort to fight off the Saxons.
Bos' appointment must surely come as a great surpise to even the powers here in gwenyth. We all know bos as a freind to gwenyth and surely this bodes well for our own king's efforts to solidify britain under one rule. The king's own champion, Eira, was rumored to be present with Bos when he made his claim to the throne. her presence would likely coincide with her own journey to Lerion to secure an alliance there.
A Match Made in Lerion
In one of our last issues we made a mistake and never let it be said that we don't try to correct our mistakes. We reported earler that Gailen, of the Peaks, was to be married to a daughter of the king here in Gwenyth. In actuality he is to become the groom in Lerion. He is now an heir apparent to be married in two years. First he will have to clear his name for his own brother's death.
Who Is That Giant Little Man?
Several reports have confirmed what you read in our top story. It is apparently true that Bos hired a dwarf as his champion for his meeting with Santan and Markedd. We decided to look into this individual that seems to have enough skills to impress even Bos. We have learned that he goes by the name of Poul. Currently he is in the employ of Avin, the merchant. He was hired after the death of Oswald. We should expect to hear more from that little giant.

Saxons Find Lerion Easy Target
Recent activity in Lerion suggests that saxon troops are icreasing their efforts in Lerion. Hopefully Eira and some of gwent's own men will reach Lerion in time to help put a stop to saxon activity there.
Locust Swarm Smaller Than in Past Years
Local farmers got a scare when a cloud of infestuous winged insects were seen in the sky. As feared they were locusts but to the farmers' relief their numbers are extremely low. Every effort is being made to wipe this plague from the sky.
Druid's Death in Dortrig Linked to York
Reports from dortrig link a druid's death to reports of witchcraft in york. Another druid, whose name is not known, has been sent to discover the parties responsible. there is also a rumor that this druid is after powerful magics. |

The Rumours Abound
Large army marching to Lerion. It is rumored that the troubles in lerion are coming from opposite directions. Two armies (each equalling the size of the lerion army plus troops from gwent) are marching, one from the north and one from the south, to Caer lerion. If this rumor is true then Lerion may be in british hands for only a short time more.
High King Cadwallon? Rumor has it that the king of Gwent is in support of Prince Cadwallyn as the high king of a unified Britain. Cadwallon has always been a friend of Gwent.
King Gos to join in a unified Britain? Many have speculated that because Bos is from gwent that he will support cadwallyn as high king of britain.
Stay away from family? Some druids are warning people that marrying close relatives is bad for your health.
Missing in action. It is rumored that Gaelen is out to clear his name but hasn't been making a good show of it. |

The Monster Corner
We have all heard of the stories of wondrous and mystical creatures. Some we have no doubt exist but others make us wonder what plant the person ate that told the story. This section is to provide information to you just in case you ever run into one of these creatures.
This issue's creature is the werewolf. Tales of werewolves have long existed but not many know how to tell the signs if one is in your area or if you yourself are one.
If you were robbed but all of your silver objects were left untouched then you might have a werewolf problem.
If after a full moon, several neighborhood pets and farm animals are missing then you might have a werewolf problem.
If you wake up in the morning naked, covered in blood and don't remember a thing then you might be a werewolf.
If dogs in the neighborhood follow you amorously then you might be a werewolf.
If you refer to a woman as a piece of meat and are thinking of food then you might be a werewolf. |
