Background/History: The son of a human woman and a powerful Dog demon, Inuyasha was not accepted by either demon or mortal society. After the death of his mother he spent many years wandering feudal Japan aimlessly. He reveled in his demonic heritage, always seeking to hide his human heart behind fearsome fangs and claws. Hearing of the magical Shikon Jewel which could transform him into a full demon, Inuyasha haunted the periphery of the temple where it was guarded waiting for the moment he could strike.

In the months that followed Inuyasha grew more and more enchanted by the beautiful temple maiden Kikyo, the high priestess of the temple and the only mortal with a soul pure enough to guard the jewel that grants any desire. Far from repulsed by his demonic nature, Kikyo sensed his troubled human spirit and grew to love Inuyasha in return.

But another saw opportunity in their feelings for each other. As the young couple contemplated a future together, the scheming demon Naraku manipulated them into believing each had betrayed the other. Naraku first inflicted a moral wound on Kikyo while making her think Inuyasha had attacked her, then maneuvered Inuyasha into position to be bound to a tree by one last spell from Kikyo. Kikyo died with her heart full of hate and Inuyasha was helplessly pinned by a magic arrow. But Naraku had not succeeded completely, Kikyo had the Shikon Jewel destroyed on her funeral pyre, literally taking the mighty artifact with her into the afterlife.

Now 50 years have passed and the binding has been broken by the a girl from the future (who happens to be the reincarnation of Kikyo), His full blooded brother Sesshomoru watches him with a mixture of hatred and envy, Neraku has returned from hiding, Kikyo has been raised from the dead as a soulless revenant, demons search the world for broken shards of the Shikon Jewel which litter the countryside, and Inuyasha has learned the truth about what happened all those decades ago.

Inuyasha roams the world again, but now he finds himself saddled with a bunch of humans as he gathers shards of the Jewel and seeks out his revenge on Naraku. His goal has come much closer to fruition now that he has claimed the Tetsusaiga, a magical sword forged from his own father's fang. With its added power he is the equal of many of the strongest pure-blooded demons he encounters. As he gradually learns to unlock the additional powers stored within Tetsusaiga there will be few that can compete with him.

Personality/Motivation: Inuyasha is torn by many conflicting desires:

Far from feeling accepted, he tries to pretend none of this has affected him.

Inuyasha copes by hiding behind a well practiced veneer of hostility and ruthlessness. When called on this (decreasingly convincing) act Inuyasha responds by being pigheaded and stubborn, refusing to admit that he cares about anything. The fact that this causes Kagome to respond in a similar way invites arguments of epic proportions.

Quote: "You don't know who you're messin'with!"

Powers/Tactics: Inuyasha spent many years relying on his speed, strength, and rudimentary demonic powers. He has the strength to uproot a tree, the speed to evade arrows in flight and, and can fling drops of his own blood at enemies as deadly weapons (his Blades of Blood). He can run fast enough to outdistance a modern bicycle and can leap over a hundred feet with a running jump. His strength allows him to carry two people on his back without slowing himself down. His canine sense of smell and hearing allow Inuyasha to smell blood from miles away with enough accuracy to recognize the injured person if he has met them before.

When facing normal humans in combat he often charges through crowds making sweep attacks to disable many at once. When facing a demon, especially one empowered by the Shikon Jewel he stays mobile, leaping all around his enemy while attacking with Tetsusaiga. He frequently spends actions to deflect impressive attacks, but relies on his demonic toughness to deal with "lesser" threats.

If faced with an overwhelming number of opponents, or if his enemy is too tough for regular sword strikes he falls back on Tetsusaiga's special power, "Cutting The Windscar". By standing in place and concentrating he can visualize a nexus where the mystic energy swirling around him and his opponent meet. With a single slice of the sword through that point Tetsusaiga unleashes a devastating cone of destruction. This "swirl" manifests as a powerful wind and can be disrupted by wind based magics.

As strong as Inuyasha is his mixed heritage has a few disadvantages:

First; In order to keep him from abandoning or attacking Kagome, Kikyo's younger sister Kaede placed him under a binding spell. When Kagome yells "Sit Boy!" a powerful magical force jerks him painfully into the ground. At first this forced him to take Kagome seriously, now that the two have grown close he sometimes finds himself ends eating dirt when he says something particularly pigheaded.

Second, his mixed blooded heritage causes him to revert to a fully human state on the first night of a new moon. When this occurs Inuyasha hides himself away from his enemies until his power returns at dawn.

Thirdly; If his life is ever in serious danger his Demon blood "takes over" and he enters a mindless blood thirsty rage. While he is stronger and faster in this state he begins killing every living thing in sight. Tetsusaiga's magic prevents this as long as it is on his person, but if the two are separated there is a very real chance he will continue to mindlessly fight a superior opponent or slaughter the innocent.

Appearance: Inuyasha appears to be a slim and muscular boy somewhere in his late teens. A pair of pointed white canine ears protrudes from the top of his head. Other characters often remark that he has better than average looks, but supernatural opponents can usually spot his half-breed nature.

Designer's Notes: Inuyasha is the powerhouse of the heroes in the show, and is really the only one that can stand up to greater demons in open combat. He has the highest speed and by far the highest stats of any of the main characters in the Anime.

On his Int: while not out and out stupid, he is usually the last one to understand what is going on and must frequently have things explained to him.
