Background/History: Princess Kahm is the crown princess of the Santovasku Empire (actually, she seems to be Emperor Quevas's only child), and is next in line for the throne. Curious to a fault, she came to Earth to witness it's "cleansing" firsthand, and snuck down to the planet's surface in the initial assault. In the process she engaged a number of Japanese Self Defense Forces troops in hand-to-hand combat, slaughtering a good half-dozen or so, before encountering Tetsuya Wakatsuki. Seeing him as just another enemy, she attacked, but managed to loose her sword from a lucky blow by Tetsuya (who was armed with a length of rebar). Weaponless, she fled.

Later, Kahm returned and cornered Tetsuya in his apartment, where she repeated her attempt to kill him. After destroying his apartment, she was forced to flee a second time as the entire island of Japan was vaporized by an exploding Santovasku battlecruiser. Fortunately for Tetsuya, she took him with her.

After a bit of bickering, Tetsuya convinced Kahm to return him to Earth, which she did, only to get her shuttle shot down by Rasia and a surface-to-air missile. Tetsuya then rescued Kahm from Rasia's attempt to beat her to death, Kahm rescued Rasia and Tetsuya from West German soldiers, and then Tetsuya and Kahm rescued Nao and the rest of the Nuba Tribe (Kahm's personal servants) from an enraged mob. During all of this, Kahm hit upon a "foolproof" idea for how to stop the war—she and Tetsuya would get married.

Once Tetsuya agreed to the plan (he was willing to do anything to stop the war), the pair journeyed to the Imperial planet, where Kahm explained her idea to her father. His response was to have Tetsuya executed.

After rescuing Tetsuya, Kahm turned rebel, eventually enlisting the aid of Geobaldi and his fleet in the battle. Together they fought a slowly losing battle against the might of the Santovasku empire (it was about 122 ships versus something like 8 million—yes, that's right, 8 million).

When all the shooting stopped, Kahm and Tetsuya had won (Hey, what did you expect? They had true love on their side, do you think that happens every day?), but at a terrible cost. The Earth was gone, the Santovasku Imperial planet was gone, some 8 million warships had been destroyed, and the Santovasku Empire was in ruins.

Afterwards, Kahm and Tetsuya settled down on the planet Ekoda, where they promptly set about to raising a whole brood of children (a son—Kazuya, and five daughters—Mahm, Mohm, Nahm, Ruhm, Tahm, the quintuplets).

Personality/Motivation: Although one would expect Kahm to be a spoiled brat due to her upbringing, she is actually more of a tomboy. She is very much a rebel, and hates having to follow the dictates of proper Santovasku society and protocol. She doesn't want to get married to anyone her father is going to pick out for her, and runs away constantly in order to try and put her responsibilities as Princess behind her. Add in Kahm's curiosity about anything new and different, her irresponsible ways, and her tendency to throw a tantrum if she doesn't get her way, and you have more than handful for any one parent, much less the emperor of a galactic empire. For all her faults, Kahm does truly love Tetsuya and will do just about anything to save/protect him, including fighting her own father in a duel of sorcery.

Quote: "When I first met the Earthman, Tetsuya Wakatsuki, he was just another enemy, but now... now he's someone special."

Powers/Tactics: As a member of the royal house of the Santovasku, Kahm possess incredible magic powers. Actually, her powers may not be magic per se, but actually some sort of psionic "super-science." But as Clarke's Third Law states: "Any suitably advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" and this axiom is more than appropriate for the situation seen here.

Only a small portion of Kahm's powers are actually demonstrated in the series. They include a lightning blast, a blast of flame, simple illusions, protective barriers, and her impressive Incantation of Reincarnation, which can bring someone back from virtual death. It is almost a given that she has other powers, but we never actually seem the directly. Towards the end of the series, she taps into the primal power of the Santovasku Imperial plant to boost her powers, but that was almost certainly a one-time deal, and since the planet is now gone, the question of her being able to do it again is probably moot.

As the Imperial planet is larger and denser than Earth, I've boosted Kahm's stats accordingly. She is very physically fit, and is capable of cutting a man in half with a single sword blow. She is quite skilled as a swordsman, and loses to Tetsuya only because of the dictates of plot. As a final note, Kahm's armor is actually quite scanty, but has been written up as being more substantial for cinematic effect. In truth, her armor is such that only her forearms and lower legs really have full coverage.

Appearance: Kahm is about 19 years old, with a slender, attractive build. She has short blonde hair that falls as far as the base of her neck, and curling horns that wrap about the front of her head. She dresses in any number of "space bikini" outfits (this is Space Opera after all), or in similarly patterned battle armor. If going ito combat, she usually adds a long cloak and a sword.

Designer's Notes: Due to an effort to make Kahm total a reasonable number of points, I left off a few of Kahm's powers, such as her Universal Translator spell, as that was almost pure plot device (i.e. removing the language barrier). I also didn't buy her the Rha Ledaruba (Kahm's personal yacht), as I'm not sure how big the ship is (aside from immense), or what it can exactly do. Besides, it functions as more of a plot device in getting our heroes where they need to be (such as the Imperial planet).

As written, Kahm makes a great stereotypical space princess (which should come as no surprise—since she is one). She could also be reworked a bit to be a fantasy character, and it's no great stretch to make her the rebellious daughter of some evil overlord.
