Background/History: Laguna Loire was an unremarkable soldier in the Galbaldian army. He dreamt of someday leaving the army, and travelling the world as a writer. He was assigned a pair of subordinates, Kiros and Ward, and assigned to fight in the Timber conflict. Over time, the trio grew close, and a special camaraderie formed between them.

The trio were later reassigned to fight Estharian forces in the Centra continent. Laguna managed to get them lost and separated from their unit, in the process stumbling across a secret Esthar excavation site. A fierce battle ensued; Critically injured, Laguna's team managed to escape by diving off a cliff into the ocean below.

Laguna found himself washed up in a small village named Winhill. He was nursed back to health by Raine, a young woman who ran the local inn. Due to the war, Winhill was all but empty of men, and monsters occasionally came through the town. Laguna took it upon himself to protect the town, and wound up helping Raine care for Ellone, an orphaned girl. However, Laguna's life was again shattered. Estharian soldiers raided Winhill, searching for children to be Sorceress Adel's successor. Laguna set out to find her, bidding goodbye to Winhill and Raine.

Personality/Motivation:
Laguna is an honest, gentle, friendly and caring man. He comes off at times as a bumbling clod, as he often seems lost or confused, but this only hides his warm personality and charisma. He finds himself especially nervous around pretty women, and tends to babble on at length. He is a natural leader and everyone he knows respects him. He loves to travel and write, and has always dreamed of becoming a journalist. During his travels to find Ellone, he supported himself by writing articles about different parts of the world for the magazine "Timber Maniacs."

Tactics/Powers:
Laguna wields and antiquated Galbaldian machinegun in combat. He also carries a pair of grenades, and uses a chain swingline for dangerous situations or to show off. Laguna's most phenomenal ability is his luck. In his own, bumbling nature, he manages to find himself in the best situations and helping out all kinds of people through pure accident. For example, when lost and on patrol, he uncovered the enemy's secret excavation site; he blundered into a village of reclusive creatures called Shumi that no-one had contacted for years; he was chased through a canyon that lead to Esthar's hidden capital; and in the end, he managed to win a war that threatened to destroy the planet by simply being in the right place at the right time.

Note however that things never go perfectly right for Laguna and his friends. Although incredibly lucky, his fortune seems to come at a price. For example, although he managed to find an idyllic life in a pleasant village, he first had to be cut up and dropped off a cliff; in order to find the Shumi village and inspire them to their greatest artistic achievements ever, he had to be lost, frozen and starving in the middle of a blizzard; and to find Esthar's capital he had to be chased through a narrow, unsteady canyon by a horde of dragons.

Appearance:
Laguna is a handsome man in his late twenties. He has long black hair that hangs over the right side of his face, and blue eyes. He wears a plain shirt, army pants and boots, and a thick blue jacket.

His right leg keeps cramping up when he's nervous. It's just one of those things.
