Background/History: Squall Leonheart is the main character from Final Fantasy VIII, and as such, is guaranteed an interesting life.

Squall was raised in an orphanage and inducted into Garden, a school that trains mercenaries. By the age of seventeen, he is proficient in hand to hand combat and spell use. He has a reputation for being always cool and controlled, but his icy veneer begins to shatter when he encounters a beautiful and free-spirited woman at his graduation party.

The woman, Rinoa Heartily, turns out to be the leader of a small resistance group that Squall is later assigned to assist. Then go awry with the involvement of both his childhood rival, Seifer Almasy and a mysterious yet powerful sorceress. Squall's team flees, and still under contract to protect Rinoa, takes her with them.

This sparks off an epic adventure for Squall, both as he travels the land to battle the sorceress and as Rinoa begins to enter his heart. Squall's world is quickly turned upside down.

Personality/Motivation: Squall's disadvantages stem mostly from his allegiance with Seed, the military force of Garden. When Squall is placed in command of Seed, he becomes embroiled in a conflict with the nation of Galbaldia, ruled by the sorceress Edea.

Due to the loss of a close friend during his childhood, he is afraid to form any lasting friendships, for fear of losing them again. As such, he is often cool and callous towards others.

Powers/Tactics: Squall is well trained with his gunblade, a combination of revolver and sword with a pistol grip and trigger. The revolver can be fired with a slash of the sword, harming the enemy even more. If sufficiently angered, Squall can use his "Renzukoken" limit break, unleashing a hail of attacks on the opponent. He may finish it off with his "Rough Divide" finishing move, a leaping upward slash. As he gains experience, his finishing moves become more and more powerful, until he can obliterate any opponent with a flurry of devastating blows.

Squall is also trained in the use of pseudo magic, made possible through monsters known as "Guardian Forces" (GFs). GFs rest in the user's mind, and enable him to draw magic spells from the environment or from opponents. These are "stocked" in the Variable power Pool for later use. All spells have limited charges, and once a charge is used, it is gone until the spell can be redrawn.

Note: The spells should be pre-designed, and the "charges" of a spell drawn should depend on the amount of Transfer rolled.

The GF itself can also be summoned, delivering a powerful attack to the user's opponents. While summoning, the user is protected by the GF itself; if the GF is knocked out, the summoning will abort and the GF must be revived later. A person can use more than one GF; however, only one may be summoned at a time, and changing GFs takes time.

Appearance: Squall Leonheart is a handsome young man of average height and build. He has brown eyes and medium length brown hair. A small, diagonal scar marks his brow, a memento from a "training" duel with Seifer. He wears a white t-shirt, leather jacket, pants and gloves. His outfit is topped off with a pair of heavy belts that hang from his waist. He always wears a matching chain and ring that bear the symbol of a roaring lion. He has nicknamed this symbol "Griever."
