Background/History: Buzz Lightyear is a member of the Space Rangers (Universe Protection Unit) and as such it is his job to defend the universe from the threat of alien invaders, space pirates, and so on. He comes complete with his own spaceship as well as a lot of neat built-in features like pop-out flight wings and true 'karate-chop' action.

Personality/Motivation: Buzz's disads are rather simple, he has an easily recognizable uniform that marks him as a member of the Space Rangers. Thus any reputation such an organization would have (such as honesty and fair play) will surely proceed him. He is almost certainly hunted by Space Pirates (Scourge of the Galaxy!) as are all other Space Rangers. Buzz is more than a bit overconfident (at least, at first) and is always the first one to go into a dangerous situation. I figure 'Protect the Innocent' can also be expanded to a more general 'Code of the Space Rangers' if needed.

Quote: "To infinity, and beyond!"

Powers/Tactics: All of Buzz's powers are built into his suit. He has a laser weapon in the right forearm. It has apparently multiple settings, since at one point he mentions setting for "stun." I extrapolated it from there. Since Buzz comes equipped with karate-chop action, I presumed he had received some form of self-defense training. If you really want to get silly, give him a simple HKA (chop) and leave it at that. If you REALLY want to get silly, make the chop Usable By Others, with the effect that they throw the large lever on Buzz's back...

The other powers look to be rather self-explanatory. He has a flight pack with large pop-out wings, an interstellar' radio, an atmospheric analyzer and a suit based life support system. Controls for the radio and analyzer are built into the left forearm. Buzz's skills are also reasonably self explanatory, being the sort of things one would expect a Space Ranger to know.

Appearance: Buzz looks to stand about 6' or so, and when dressed in his armor, is very broad. His hair is most likely very short and of undetermined color, since he wore a close fitting cap in the movie.

Designer's Notes: Ok... so maybe I was bored at work...

Buzz Lightyear is one of the two main characters in Disney's really cool, fully computer animated movie Toy Story. I wrote up Buzz purely for the fun of it, trying to see what would happen if I converted his action figure powers into HERO System terms. I quickly dispensed with the idea of making Buzz a 12" tall toy and went with writing him up as a full-fledged superhero.
