SPINY POLAR WORM

The spiny polar worm of Lyrak 4924 dwells in the arctic regions, where it feeds on assorted arthropod-like animals. Covered in thick plates, it seems to be a form of arthropod itself, although its size is much larger than any Terran example. The creature has six limbs and a long tail (used for balance), with spikes on the underbody that provide traction amid snow and ice. The limbs end in long armor piercing spikes that can easily punch through the shells of other arctic dwellers. As can be plainly seen, the head has no eyes—the creature hunts via thermal senses and sonar. As one of the top predators for its biome on Lyrak 4924, the Spiny Polar Worm easily reaches lengths of 20 feet, with certain specimens growing to nearly 30.
