MAHOTSUKAI

This Japanese Mahotsukai, or sorcerer (who refused to give any sort of name, code or otherwise), demonstrates a series of kuji kiri (“nine ways cutting) hand and finger positions. Also known as “mudra,” kuji kiri allow the practitioner to focus his or her ki, granting near superhuman powers. Such finger gestures are also common with practitioners of onmyoji (the Japanese art of cosmology and divination) and ninja.
